Founders and Owners Steve Nastwold and Dale Vigliarolo:
“When we started in the roofing business back in the 70s there was so much work, anyone could be in the roofing business. We like to think that it’s because of our professionalism, experience, honesty, workmanship and integrity that we’ve not only stuck around, we’ve grown Northwest Contracting more than 100 percent in the face of a complicated construction market.”
Steve Nastwold started in the new construction roofing business right out of high school. He started as a laborer, moved up to assistant superintendent, then senior estimator & vice president.
Steve developed an early knack for estimating the quantity of product needed, and that talent has grown to an ability to fully manage projects with an eye for detail and unfailing accuracy.
It’s a great combination: Steve is the numbers guy, and Dale is the artist and the people person.
Dale Vigliarolo’s career in the roofing business, which started at practically the same time as Steve’s, just naturally pushed him to his strengths: Doing exacting work up on the roof, and working with the customer. The detail work has to be precise, so when he was coming up, if he didn’t get it, he asked questions. That communicative quality serves him well when he sits down with someone who needs a new roof.
Just in case you’re curious as to how the company got its name, it’s because Steve, a Michigander through-and-through, loves Northwestern Michigan and spends a lot of time there. Dale’s off-hours time is usually spent creating in the kitchen.
